"Pelican Retreat", Digital Print by American Artist Matthew Schwartz
Pelicans make up the Pelecanidae family of large water birds. Large throat pouches and long beaks are characteristic of these animals, allowing them to catch prey and drain water before swallowing. Pelicans, with the exception of brown and Peruvian, have predominantly pale plumage.
Pelicans frequent coastal and inland waters, catching fish near or at the water's surface. The birds travel in flocks, hunt cooperatively, and breed colonially. The nesting habits of two brown-plumaged species mainly occur on trees, and the nesting habits of four white-plumaged species mainly occur on the ground.
Pelicans enjoy their day by sitting over the boats with the calmful ocean bacground.
